It's official. We are in escrow on a darling little house in Mill Valley. It is totally different than what we've been looking at - we've been focused on houses that were bigger, more 'done' but in slightly less desireable neighborhoods. After trying to talk ourselves into putting in an offer on a home neither of us were all that excited about, our agent Josh Burns asked us if we'd be open to another approach.
When he brought us to 32 Plymouth, we both walked in and had the same first reaction: NO CHANCE. It was considerably smaller than what we'd been looking at. The layout was medium. It needed a lot of work. But then we started looking around, imagining a wall down here and some flagstone down there. We started thinking about the neighborhood - walking distance to downtown Mill Valley, kids biking all over the neighborhood, talk of block parties and cocktail progressives. All the things I've loved and imagined about life in Baywood were being compared in Sycamore Park. The house is walking distance to the middle school and the high school and the house has incredible potential.
Before we move in we will knock down a wall to open up the kitchen and living room. We'll redo one of the bathrooms and relandscape the backyard. In the next few years we'll build on a second story and take the house from 1300 SF to 2100+. And from there the possibilities are endless. The bones and layout allow for so much potential and we both are so excited about the projects that lay in front of us!!
Closing on June 24th, 2013. Homeowners!
