14 Week Update

Will I ever start a post with anything other than "I can't believe he's already 14 weeks old"...??  It's no surprise that time is flying with all the fun we are having these days.  We've been reading the book Wonder Weeks and are really subscribing to how they describe infant growth - leaps.  We've now had two very distinct bad weeks (9 and 13) all fitting the signs described as "leaping" and as soon as those weeks are over, it's like we have a whole new kid.  Yesterday and today, Cooper has been a completely new kid.  He has found his hands, bringing them together, grabbing and shaking toys, touching etc.  He is very stable sitting up (with the assistance of one of us, of course).  He's definitely found his voice and is finding all sorts of new sounds and movements he can make.  He is sleeping.  Gloriously sleeping from ~7:30pm to ~6:30am.  We still haven't mastered the art of putting him down and often question how long to let him cry, whether or not to put him down awake or asleep etc. but once he goes down, he's out.  And napping.  A quick catnap about an hour after he wakes up and then a nice long, 3 hour nap ~10am.  Afternoons are hit or miss. He loves the bath now and splashes around like crazy.  We are starting swim lessons at La Petite Baleen tomorrow and I'm very curious to see if he is warmer to the water than he was in hawaii now that he's made such strides in liking the bath.  I am taking a sign language class on Wednesday just to learn the basics (even though he is too young).   We're in a terrific groove and it feels great.    He's such a sweet and cozy little boy, loving snuggles and dancing and looking all around.   He adores his daddy and gives him the biggest smiles and laughs when he walks in the room.   It has been so much fun for Jesse and me to watch him really know/learn us and give us the feedback that he loves us and misses us when we walk away.

Everyday is a new adventure.
